Tours Salem's only narrated land & sea tour! |
|
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we cannot accept reservations for our Salem tours. We sincerely regret any inconvenience that this occurrence has caused. It seems that a non-elected State board has chosen to deny us our right to "Public Access to the Water". Obviously, we are challenging this discriminatory (only applies to "duck boats") decision. It is our firm desire to continue to operate in the City of Salem and provide Salem's citizens and visitors, with public access to the water. To date, we have successfully conducted over 8,000 accident free and incident free tours. We are proud of the record and the fact that we have brought over 100,000 passengers out into Salem harbor and acquainted them with Salem's proud maritime history. The City of Salem has tried hard to diversify it's tourism offerings. The "Moby Duck" is a premier maritime (non-witch) attraction and now it is being potentially forced out of business, without provocation. Even the Director of this State board has publicly stated "This is a statewide policy that in no way reflects on the activities of Public Access Tours, Inc d.b.a. Moby Duck. No formal complaints about the activities of the aforementioned company have been received by this agency." Again, we apologize for the suspension of your right to experience and enjoy Salem Harbor. Ultimately, the fact of the matter is that each individual resident and every person visiting Salem has been denied their right to publicly access the water. We hope that this is temporary, and ask for your patience and support while we try to reverse this inequity. |

| It's
a 25 minute land tour, an exciting "splash" into the water and 30 minute harbor tour. |
| The narrated tour begins on land and views Salem's
bewitching historical points of interest. The House of the Seven Gables,
the Witch Trials Memorial, The Olde Burying Point of Puritans, pirates,
pioneers, and patriots. The myths and mysteries of witchcraft will bedevil
all. A licensed USCG captain will pilot the vessel and tales of the witchtrials
will be provided by the "Duck Mate".
After being thoroughly "Haunted" by the land tour, passengers will experience an exciting "SPLASH" as the MOBY DUCK drives right into the ocean. The water portion tours around Salem harbor and focuses on the maritime history of trade with Africa, the West Indies, Russia, India and China in the 18th and early 19th century. Visions of pirates and seafarers abound in this journey back in time. |
